Also if your department has a Iupa Local, FOP, Association, etc. Bring it to the attention of your board. My board voted when we formed that we would send 2 members a year to a seminar. We agreed to pay for the hotel of the members. They pay for travel and food.
My local is a member of International Union of Police Associations and we fall under Virginia Cops. Virginia Cops pays for the "tuition" for two members from every local to go to trainings.
Cost of the seminar is $215. Plus you can pay $75 and your spouse can go also.
