Buy a metal stringer, cut off the individual clips, and use those. You can attach different colored nylon rope, or tie a line and use different colred bobbers, numbered bobbers, or whatever system you want to use.

My stringer recipe:1-Metal Stringer (Wal-Mart) 6-Cheap Bobbers (Wal-Mart) 9-10 ft-Clear Plastic Tubing (The Home Depot) 12-EXTRA SMALL Zip Ties (The Home Depot OR Wal-Mart) 1-Sharpie Instructions: Take the stringer apart and sharpen the tips of the clips (the end you poke through the fish's jaw) (I used a Dremel tool to do this). Remove the spring from the bobber and clip the top part that would normally stick up above the water with some side cutters. Cut the tubing into 18" pieces. Stick the bobber into one end of the tubing. Use a pair of zip ties to secure it into the tubing. Stick the sharp end of the stringer clip through the tubing about about 1/2" from the end (perpindicular). Thread it all the way around to the small end of the clip. Reinstall the keeper. Do this 6 times and then number them with the Sharpie. Money spent is less than 10 bucks. I've had my set for about 8 years and only had to replace one and that was because I smashed a bobber with the livewell lid. The sharpened tips of the stringer clips makes it very easy to get through the fish's jaw too. Another plus is that mine weigh EXACTLY 1 ounce, making culling easier. RustyJ 08 21XDC 300XS

Here are some I made using clearance crankbaits, weedeater line and fish stringer. Academy and Home Depot. Some of the cranks I found in trees at the lake. I used to have the bobbers but they kept falling apart and getting styrofoam in the livewell.

Thanks, that reminds me. Be sure to take a grinder and sharpen the metal stringer to a point. It does not tear the as big a hole in the fish's mouth when you poke it through.

What did you use for the black pieces to connect the weedeater line to the hooks?

I don't know for sure but it looks like electrical shrink warp.

Forgot to put that on there. I used cable crimps. These are on the rope aisle at your local HD or Lowes or Ace Hardware. They are pretty cheap aluminum. I think I used 1/8" cable crimps and .095 weedeater line. I wouldn't use less than .095 diameter weedeater line. Just make sure you take your line and run it through the cable crimp at the store to make sure it fits. And make sure it fits through the hook holder on the float. .105 may be too large for some floats, in which case I guess you could attach a swivel or larger split ring. I crushed down the cable crimp in a vise and then slid the heat shrink tube up and over the cable crimp. Then hit it with the lighter. Also, if your weed eater line is coily, you can run the flame down the line and straighten it out with some heat. Also, about 8" of line length seems to work pretty good.

Yeah, the american shad at the bottom and the white/chartreuse at the top are pretty good. The red craw not bad also. I have some of these in my box. They were on a special for $1.99 at the Academy and I bought a few extra. That is the beauty also, I can cut the line off and attach some hooks if I ever need an extra bait.

Academy also sells those baits as key chains at the register. Those would work and I think alittle cheaper than the real baits.Sonny Hubbard 2003 Nitro 911 CDC 2003 MERC 225 EFI

I made a set using stringer clips and went to a hobby store and bought different colors of surgical tubing used for model airplane fuel lines. The colors I found were all day-glo and they sell it by the foot. Cable ties attach the clips to the tubing.Just a guy tryin' to get to the next level...at everything I try.
