VA Secretary Adds AL Amioidosis As A Presumptive Disease Associated With Exposure To Agent Orange

Primary AL Amyloidosis, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) Institute of Medicine issued it's most recent report on it's formal review of the scientific and medical literature on health effects potentially related to exposure to to herbicides and related materials used during the Viet Nam war. Based on the recommendations of the task force, the Secretary announced his decision that the evidence warrants establishment of a presumption of service connection based on service in the Republic of Vietnam for primary AL Amyloidoisis. As required by law, a notice has been published in the Federal Register announcing this addition and 38 CFR 3.309(e) will be amended to include this disease.

Be sure to check the section titled: Clinical Course of AL Almyloidosis

This site gives more complete information, and related other diseases
that this disease can contribute to.
Be sure to look at section 4, as this gives information as to symptoms.

VERY good information on this site, and written so everyone can
understand it.

As you will see, this is an insidious disease, that manifests itself in many different ways. It can and does effect multiple organs, and systems of the body.

I implore anyone that is a Vietnam Veteran, or, has a relative that is a Vietnam Veteran, or, knows a Vietnam Veteran to get checked out for this disease as quickly as possible. It is that serious.

If I read the information correctly, this disease shows up as many different diseases. In other words, in laymens terms, it initiates, or starts any of several different diseases. From cancer, heart diseases such as thickening of the wall muscle and weakening it. And many more.
It is diagnosed by urine, blood, and marrow tests. But, remember, ALL the articles say that by the time this particular disease is diagnosed as the root cause, the prognosis isn't good.
