lights for nighttime navigation ???? Reply  Edit

Anyone got a clever idea or product to add lights to my '96 ranger without drilling holes all in the boat? Would love to use something besides a spot light as i go down the lake at night.. Rigged tractor lights on "old" boat but don't want to take a chance drilling holes in the new boat.. Thanks for the help....

I used to have 2 lights mounted below the rubrail on my boat but saw a couple guys that had just one mounted to a hole drilled through the TM bracket. I switched mine to that set-up and it works great. I'll snap a couple pics and post them up later. Its a lot more protected. The other way they were always getting out of adjustment from hitting docks and stuff.

Best lights to use are the TH Marine headlights.

I've seen this setup before and it was awesome !! The bracket clamps on the front pedestal seat. They were developed and patented by a guy here in Huntsville. I've seen several of them during local night tournaments.

I mount my headlights using a 1/8" aluminum plate mounted under the trolling motor bracket, using the trolling motor mounting bolts to hold it in place. Keeps the lights just below the gunnel so you don't get any glare and you don't have to drill any extral holes.

That's a great idea. Now how did you run the wire and turn them on and off?

Drilled a hole through the rub rail for each light and snaked the wiring back to the console. Installed a toggle switch and ran wiring to battery with an in-line fuse.

You're from TN and he's from KY. Just across one state line and you need a translator???

Not sure, but I thought I saw a pair of those at Waterfront Bait & Tackle on Guntersville a while back. If you can`t get a line on the guy in Huntsville. Doug or one of the guys there at the bait shop might be able to steer you in the right direction.

That`s true. Your not suppose to be running around with your spotlight on blinding everybody. But I do like to check things out like markers or bouys, or even floating debris without having to fool with a hand held spotlight. Unlike some guys who run around when it`s pitch black or foggy at 60 to 70 +MPH and just think they know what`s in front of them. Most Bass Boats don`t have radar and I have alsmost been hit on a few different occasions on some different lakes. Lights to check things out, glasses, or something of that nature would sure help a few folks out there in the dark.
