Phil , i think this is the one , it came from cleveland , all 11 hours worth from birmingham, uuggghhhh. if you bid 12,400 i think you would have payed 2k too much. needed certain necessities, hyd steer, TLC, troll motor,new DF, batteries, as far as the boat goes though was in very good shape. still working on the trailer brakes.

Yep , thats the one . Glad to see it got a good home . I never bid on it , but sure admired it evey day !  It would have been a little nicer than my 171 though . President

ran it with the 6' plate and a 26" raker yesterday and GPS at 67-68, but Todd in the setuos told me i def needed a 10" plate , little tweeking with the prop and could get 74-76 out of her, i'll tell you though i'm used to 63 but that extra 4 mph sure feels like a lot more.its taking 60 to get it up on that last pad, and thats a little toomuch for me, so i think that plate willl help out. its also a manual and think its set a little too high. hey Phil i offered him 12,500 when he first listed , and 2 weeks later won it it for 10,400..............sweeeeeet

that's alot of boat for 10k. and drives and handles as good as anything on the planet. When the 196 was introduced, I test drove one with Dave Precht of Bassmaster Magazine at the yearly bass boat deal at Percy Priest. We just had a 150 on it, but he commented that it was the sweetest driving rig he'd been in.

just came over to check out the HS page. I had a 1998 196, with a Johnson 200 on it. Sold it back in 2003. One of the best bassboats I ever had (besides my Puma  ) The 196 was an AWSOME riding boat! My only regret was not having ONE picture of her!

thats a LIGHTNING lower unit made by OMC/BOMBARDIER, you can ask for gearcase man on the evinrude johnson board for a quote on one .....
