stop premature livewell pump failure Reply  Edit

I had a livewell fill pump burn out, not sure why, but I had left it on while I was running on plane, so it was running dry.

So I rigged my fill pump and my recirct pump on solenoids so that the fill pump that is out of the water on plan and the recirc pump are on solenoids that operate as such.

key off recirc pump functions
key on recirc pump will no run, but recirc will run automatically

I rigged a seperate switch 'auto aerator' that activates this function, so now when I blast off i just turn that switch on and the pumps run but will never run dry.

Be extra careful if you have pump-out. If the valve is pulled out from last time and you forget, when you take off you'll pump out all your water and your fish will die...

happened to a friend he inadvertently pumped all his water out running in a BWS tournament and killed a limit of spots that he caught in the first 2 hours. So much for culling, can't cull dead ones... He just ran the TM for the non-boater all day and weighed in a 5lb limit not including penalties

Buy led lights at radio shack and wire them into each switch. They are about 1/8 inch diameter. Whenever you leave a switch on it will be lit up.
