I use 3M brand electrical splicing tape (not electrical tape)........it's black and gets VERY tacky when stretched........sticks to itself only.........it will come off and you'll never know it was on the rod.........one roll will do several rods

Most of my rod handles are wrapped, not all, so when I buy a rod the cork of foam is not a concern for me. Thats why I do it and as for the color thats just so I can grab a rod and know what line is on the reel. ,,,YOUR BAIT SUCKS AND YOUR BOAT IS UGLY

I am going to try that adhesive tape that is textured and wont stick to your skin....looks like it just might work really well.

I use tennis grip also. I wrap mine for three reasons. 1. It keeps the cork clean and rod looks better for re-sale. 2. It feels better to me then cork or foam. 3. All my rods are the same make and all my reels are the same as well. So...if I want a crankbait rod...I grab an orange handle...if I want a medium rod...I grab a yellow handle...if I want a med/hvy I grab a black handle and if I want a hvy or stronger...I grab a blue handle. This is REALLY handy when rigging your rods tonight for a trip tomorrow!! Bullet 21XD/200 EFI

I use Rod grips made by reelgrips. I also have some of the reel grips. My hands sometimes get so dry that the cork handles on the rod slips out of my hands. I put these rubberized grips on and they made a big difference. They are not as thick as the tennis racket wraps. "007"

If you try the shrink tube, make sure that it is not uf or underground rated. If it is, when you shrink it up a glue type substance will ooze out both ends (used to keep water from getting into the splice) I don't think it would leave your handle in very good shape if you ever chose to remove it.

Don't use the type with glue and there will be no problem, the reason I use it is because here in south louisiana we tend to sweat a lot during the warm months and the cork breaks down and splits after a while. This protects the handle fron this and it also hepls with grip. JMO

I use rod wraps and reel grips on all my rods. I also work out and like the extra thickness of the wraps for my rods...color coding is also nice. Reel grips are great too...same thing..added thickness to reel handles. Both of them make my rods on and reels a little more comfortable, and having the rod wax is great in the winter and summer. -Tennis racket tape will fall apart after it gets wet and although it is inexpensive..basically it is junk.

I shouldnt say its junk....maybe for the price of that vs rod wraps...not all that different. I have seen guys tennis stuff fall apart after a season though...actually every person I have seen use that has had there tape fall apart after a year or so. And removing it is a little bit of a chore also, and leaves a residue behind.

+1 I can't understand why anyone would mess with anything other than Rod Wrap. They only cost 5 bucks...because of the rubberized surface they have the property of having better grip when they're wet than dry....they're comfortable to hold...you actually get greater rod sensitivity because you don't have to hold the rod grip so tight...easy to put on...no adhesive to create problems... easy to remove...they last a long time (I have some that are 5 or 6 years old and still look great). The way I see it; you could your reel with kite string... it would be different and it would be cheaper, but it wouldn't be better . . . Don't worry Ma'am.... I'm only here for the Bass.
