Another thing you can do is wipe them with amonia and it stops the chattering for awhile. Unless they are so hard nothing will help. LOL

If that doesn't work and new blades still shudder or smear, clean your windscreen with tooth paste, but not the jell stuff.

Also when waxing your paint, wax the windshield too! It makes the wipers smear less and quieter, and has the same effect as RainX but lasts longer.'96 Skeeter SS90 / '96 Merc 90HP

I bought some Rainex windshield wash and have used aout a quarter gallon sin last spring, works great! And as mentioned earlier sheds most rain without the use of the wipers.Mike 1987 Champion 184 Super V / 2003 Mercury 150 XL

I have been doing that since my truck was brand new (Feb 2004) and I still am using the orignal wiper blades (still wipe clean). Rainex on the windshield helps them clean better, not stick and prevents chatter. I know no one here in Fla that gets 5 years on a set of wiper blades. GREAT TIP. 1989 361V Johnson 150 GT Fastest boat I have ever owned.
