Some of us at my PD want to change uniforms from wearing Class A/B every day to a more contemporary look...like 5.11 pants and a polo shirt. What are you guys using?
Had a friend that worked for a So. Cal. PD that wore the basic LAPD dark blue's like most PD's do around here. A new Chief came in and decided it would look less "confrontational" to put the street cops in tan pants and blue blazers with a little public safety officer logo on the coat pocket. No guns or any leather gear showing at all. The result.........assaults on street cops went through the roof, the crooks just wouldn't accept the fact that these "Suits" were real cops, they quickly went back to the REAL blue suits that all convicts recognize.
wearing 5.11 and a polo shirt or a black longsleve T shirt with police on front and back. Very comfortable and a lot cheaper... Still carrying the authority look.
We wear class A's all year. We are allowed to wear class B when working details thatg consist of BDU pants and a polo. The good thing is we do not wear long sleaves or a tie. Our Detectives have to wear slacks and ties everyday.
