 x19 setup issues Reply  Edit

I recently purchased a 2007 x19 with a 150HO evinrude etech motor. It has a raker 24" pitch prop and a 6" hydraulic jack plate. My current wide open throttle is 4900rpms with the engine trim all the way up. I am only getting about 55mph (gps) out of this rig. The motor is mounted as high as possible on the jack plate. Max rpm's for this motor is 5850.

The strange thing is, I don't see a change in rpm's when I move the jack plate up or down.

I'm not real sure where to go from here with my setup.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

Hi Bob and welcome to the BBC!! I've got some questions you will have to answer before i can help a great deal.Did you just buy this rig??? Have you got bass pro in your front deck???? (a lot of tackle) Do you feel the boat lift the bow at higher speed???How high is the rooster tail at wide open, fully trimmed??? You should set the prop to pad at 4 1/2'' and start there.Leave that setting alone and play with the trim and see where your at. I think you have 1 of 2 things wrong, either it's not making power on one cyl, OR the hull is not lifting. Both of those will make it run about where your at.Is the prop in good shape??? You should try another prop if it's damaged at all. The new rakers are soft and can loose cup very easily according to Mike and Mark in the prop forum. I would think you have the correct prop size because i ran 3 different OMC 150's and had a 24 raker on a basscat pantera and it turned 5700-5800 rpms with a 6'' plate, and the other 2 boat and motor combos would turn 5600-5700 with the 24 raker.Somewhere around 45-50 you should feel the bow pop up all at once, then it will run.If it's not, THAT'S your problem. If it is getting on pad and that's all she will run your motor is sick.It could be that it's never getting wide open throttle,so it wouldn't hurt to check that as well.

You are over propped. Trade that 24 raker in for a 22P raker.

I have only had the boat for two months, although I bought it used. The motor is 2008 and it seems to run ok. I've checked the throttle linkage and I'm getting the full range of motion out of it. I carry a pretty good amount of tackle but nothing crazy. It pops up on plane lightning fast, Ive owned several other glass boats and none of them got up on plane as fast as this one. The rooster tail is pretty high, of course the higher I put the jack plate the Higher the rooser tail. What puzzles me is the fact that the rpms don't change no matter what position I have the jack plate in. The prop is in brand new shape, I sent it out and had it reworked just to make sure I didn't have any prop issues.

Too much prop for a 6" setback. Add another 6" or prop down. Try a 4 blade also. Is it a raker 2? Who did the work to the prop?

its not a raker II. I'm not sure who actually done the prop work. I sent it out through a local marine dealer.

I have a used raker 22" pitch coming for a trial to see what it does for me.
Thanks for your help guys.

Just received the raker 22" prop today. Can't wait until the weekend to try it out.

Well I ran the 22p raker this weekend. I have to say it was a little disappointing at best. With the 24p I was getting 55 to 56 mph (gps) at 4900rpm (wot). With the 22p I ran 5800rpm and the speed was the same 55 to 56mph.

I'm not really sure where to go from here. I was thinking maybe trim extenders or a set of transom wedges.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone offer a 6" spacer to get more set back out of my 6" jackplate, or would I have to buy a new jackplate to get that much set back.

Something is wrong... going from a 24P to a 22P you should see close to 400 rpm change, Not almost a 1000. I would now look at throttle linkage, hot foot motor height etc..

Did the holeshot and acceleration get better? Plenty of bow lift?

The acceleration and hole shot are out of this world with the 22p raker. The hole shot was actually pretty good with the 24p raker.

I have a 23p renegade 4 blade coming, I guess I'll see what that does

It does seem like I could use a little more bow lift. There seems to be too much pad left in the water at wot
