 Replacing Bunk Boards??? Reply  Edit

I need to replace 1 bunk board,it's a kinda shady lookin,So instead of replacing just 1 im gonna replace-em all, including carpet,I read somewhere to use Cedar,it's supposed to be better or somthin,My question is Do i have to water treat the wood, like Thompsons water sealer or sumthin or just put-em on .......

I did mine this time last year, and purchased pressure treated 2x4's. They have held up great. No need to treat them w/ sealer. MUCH cheaper than cedar. I go them @ Lowes and they also had the marine grade carpet as well. Better quality and less expensive that the pre-cut Bunk Carpet offered @ Cabela's and BassPro.

Good Luck!!!

I did the same as BigTex this past spring. Treated wood, Lowe's outdoor carpet (they will cut it into strips for you), outdoor carpet glue, and monel staples. I used glue on the top and sides, but didn't glue the bottom. Staples on the bottom with carpet wrapped around top and sides. I also didn't completely wrap around the bottom but only partially covered the bottom of the boards to let water drain better. Bunks still looking new with a full season in use.
