2004 TR20X 225 opti, need help. Reply  Edit

I'm not really happy with my setup on my 04 TR20x. It has a 225 optimax on it, with a 6" jackplate. With 2 fisherman and 1/2 tank of fuel the fastest I have seen on my gps is 65mph. It currently has a 4 blade 26" trophy plus prop on it. I'm running at 5800rpms at 65mph and sometimes even bump into the rev limiter. I've moved the motor up and down several times and where it is at is the best mph I've seen. Moving it up keeps me in the rev limiter constantly it seems. I know this boat will do 70 plus, but can't figure out what I need to do. My holeshot is pretty good right now, I just want more top end. I'm not real concerned with the holeshot to be honest, I would just like to run 70+ without bumping the rev limiter.
I'm not exactly sure what has been done to my prop either. I know that it's been cleaned up, but that's it.
Thanks,
Chris

I'm of the opinion that something has been done to that trophy plus. I'm running a 25 trophy plus on a 201 stratos with a 250 E-tec,6 in jack plate, gear ratio 1:71 and can bump 80 gps at 5900. Test it with a new one.

2004 201 Stratos, 2008 250 E-TEC, HDS-5 electronics. 2000 Montana 5th wheel,2004 Dodge diesel pulls em all together. [IMG]

I had a similar boat and ran a 26 tempest that was worked with stern lift and cup. 2.75" bp it would run 70-72 5800-6000rpm with 2 guys full gear and full gas. 77-78 with 1 guy and full gear 1/4 tank of gas. Before the prop was worked it would only run 65-66 with the same load. I also ran a 25 fury stock out of the box it was 69-71 5800-6000 with 2 guys full load full gas, but was 75 with 1 guy and 1/4 full of gas. Trophy props will run 1 mph faster speeds to the tempest but stock neither is good. On a side note I also ran a 26 fury out of the box and it would run the same as the worked tempest, but it had low rpm when it was full of gas and 2 guys. All that being said, either get a new prop or have yours worked and you will see 70+ with any load.
