Would a jack plate make any measuarable difference with my boat? If I add anything bigger than a 3 or 4 inch them I'll have to add steering cables and probably a throttle cable. I know it's hard to compare boat to boat but I keep hearing of similar boats with similar set ups in the 60+ mph range but mine wont get there unless it's basically empty. With a tourney load 53 to 54 mph is the best I can get and it gets frustrating.I have a 1999 Astro 1800 DC with a vitually new 150 Opti it turns a steady 5400 RPMs no matter what the load. The boat is not any heavier than the newer ones at 2000 Lbs. I really like my Trophy II + prop in that it steers so much better than a 3 bladed prop and I didn't realize any speed difference with the 3 blade when I tried it. I raised the motor to the next to the last hole on the transom and it made about a 2 mph (GPS) difference all the way around. I think raising it above that may cause problems.
Just need some input... Thanks...
