i got an 04 pro 185 with a 150 xr6. its been a pretty good boat for me. the merc is slow to crank the first time in the morning, but after you run it, its all good. had a coil go out on mine, thats the only thing i had wrong with it. my boat runs 65 gps, fully loaded. i've put the boat through hell and its still rolling. 3 footers will hurt you, but not the boat. my motor had less than 90 hours on it. gave 13,500 3yrs ago if that helps.
Mine is an 03 with 150xr6. It has been a good boat. Seems very sturdy but does show several stress cracks in gelcoat. I don't think they hurt anything. I've had it in some real rough water several times. I'm running a 24P 4 blade Thropy Plus prop and get 62 GPS on good water and not fully loaded. That's fast enough. Motor runs good but sure uses a lot of gas. It's about 4" narrower than a lot of boats the same size. I wouldn't have a problem buying another ProCraft.
My fishing partner just boutght a 2004 185 and man it will smoke most boats the same size. My question is can you put a jack plate on these boats? My partner said that the previous owner told him they were not made for a jack plate. This boat will fly but it takes forever to get out of the hole. Is there anyway to fix this?

I've got a 97 18.5 pro dp. I would suggest a jackplate. These have a very fast hull and the others are correct. It will take bigger water than most people enjoy. It will get you home after the wind comes up. Mine has a 175 mariner (merc) and will run just under 70 if you don't mind a little walking. Really don't need to run that hard unless you've got an oil well pumping somewhere tied to a refinery. The difference in fuel consumption from 50 to 65 is a lot. The boat will most likely have 44 gallon tank. Full throttle isn't needed unless your late for the checkin. But its fun. Good luck.

I put hyd steering and a 6" jack plate on. I run a 24P 4 blade Trophy Plus prop and I get out of the hole and on plane very quick. Even with both live wells full. The trade off is some top end speed.
