Need help with my Triton Reply  Edit

Hey guys,

Just bought a 300 Vmax for my 1999 Tr21. Currently there is no Jackplate on the boat and looking to install a hydraulic one. There is a bob's for sale in the for sale section but it is a 10 inch. I've been told a 8 inch is what I should go with but what would be wrong with a 10 inch? Also what prop should I match this engine with? my boat is pretty heavy with the equipment I've got in it and was leaning towards a 27 T1.
What do you guys recommend?

Maybe be wrong but I think an 8" is the biggest the factory will warranty with their transom. With your boat being a 99 i don't know if you have a warranty left, or if you are worried about it? From what I've heard the 10" has a better holeshot & topspeed.

I dont think he's worried about warranty, since I am pretty sure the max rating for that boat is 250hp. The standard hydraulic jack plate that was on all the Tritons I had in that age was 6". I always thought 8 would have been a better choice, but it might have been because of the transom strength. If you have too much motor already, I would check this out before hanging that baby too far out there. JMO.

Will do Chief, but right now that's my dilemma, how should I set it up? I`m still pretty new to bass boating and want to make sure I have everything in check before I give this baby a go. I`m thinking of putting a 8 inch jack plate on. Is that the right setback? And I`m debating between a Bob`s and an Atlas, which one do you guys recommend? Also what prop should I be running. I currently have two: a 27 T1 and a 29 T1. Which one would give me the best performance.

Thanks for all your help guys!

Jackplate brand wont matter both are excellent units, start with 27 T1 I doubt you will hit the limiter for a while b /c you are gonna be rollin pretty darn fast for a Tr.
