Questions for all xpress owners. Reply  Edit

Well i pulled in at 6:30 last night, arms pure tired from driving basically none stop.
Got out today with highs mid 70's to do some cleaning.
1)First the boat had sat for a year and a half, the trailer is oxidized all over, what do all of you use to keep em shinney,or will mine take more now since it has not been taken care of on the dealers lot.
2)I had a xpress already and noticed if you look down the sides of the boat it appears to be dented,i know this is where weld joints are i guess, has everyone noticed this on theres?
3)I got under it to polish the hull and found a small, size of a half dollar dent right in the middle of the hull on the weld joint that joins the two halfs together, does'nt seem to half cracked the weld, worry about it or not,or it is something i cannot do about it anyway.
4)I have the ripped graphics on mine and on two places it has a crinkale in the decal, would you try and lift it with a razor blade, pull the cress out and hopefully get it to stick back or forget it and leave it be.
5)Last thing,i noticed grease on the backside of the aloy wheels at one rest stop near home.I got some paper towels and wiped all the grease away and drove it on home, and when i got home no more grease had slung out.Do you feel the dealer just put some grease in the bearings since i was driving it 6 hours home and overfilled it?I know alot to answer!

ThomasL, I just bought a new XP18 a couple of weeks ago. Mine has indentations all over the side and under the hull. There is a place right in the middle of the hull where it looks like the boat rode on a trailer to the dealer. My decals aren't loose so can't help there. Frankly, the xpress is a great boat but I am somewhat disappointed at all the imperfections on the sides and bottom. I guess one way to look at it is since it already has dents don,t worry about making new ones. Just run it, go fishing and enjoy your time on the water.

1. The trailers are raw aluminum without a finish on them so it will always be a dull grey. You could polish it and finish it.

2. Yes it it typical around welds. Metal, when welded, "Pulls" in. So, anywhere there is a weld on a flat surface you'll sell a slight dip.

3. I wouldn't worry about it right now. But it is an easy fix with a fiberglass reinforced body filler like Dyna-glass.

4. Its your boat and if it bugs you try to fix it. New graphis cost about $200. If you buy new graphics have a detail shop (one the does pin stripping) put them on for you.

5. If you are EVER in doubt of bearings replace them and repack. They are cheap.

1)I went and bought some mothers aluminum mag polish in the little tub and a wax pad.I should have known better trying it in high humidity with a rain chance.Helped a little but i could still get the black residue off with multiple rags, guess it just wasn't drying good enough.I then got a bucket of water a sponge and some lava and washed the trailer off to make sure no wax remained on the trailer.I may check with a detailer and see if a small hand buffer would work better.I still need to crawl under the boat and do the cross members and backside of the trailer but that will be another day.
