most of the time my boat starts fine, but usually about once a trip i hit the key and nothing. i've cleaned and spread the prongs on plug. jumped neutral switch and still nothing. usually the only way i can get it started is to jump in the starter solenoid. seems like once i do this it starts ok next time. don't know if this is coincedence, but once i trimmed the motor all the way up and back down and it started up. starting to think maybe i've got a broken wire in my harness. i've checked key switch, but never when it wouldn't turnover. i'm going to try and run another wire but it doesn't look like its going to be easy

If you have a multi meter test to see of you are getting 12 volts to the solenoid when you turn the key to start. It could be a broken wire , or just concidence . you may have a loose wire or a solenoid failing. With a little time you should be able to find where you are loosing the signal for the starter.
