I switched to one of the water proof storage boxes with the rubber gasket. I have been using the same hooks for three seasons with little to no rust. Normaly I would have to throw everything away after one season. Saved me alot of money.....

Saw something different this summer. Line the bottom of your trays with rice and it will absorb any moisture

Here is what I use: http://www.damprid.com/ It is called damp rid. Home Depot sells it. I keep one in every storage compartment. Also in my hook box. ALSO I use the little packs that come in aspirin bottles for smaller bottles.

go to local shoe stores. They have the cilica gel packs laying all over their back room. Just ask them for a hand full and keep them in your hook box. The other thing I have heard was to keep a dozen or so toothpicks in your plano boxes. They absorb the water away from the hooks and keep rust off. Seems to work for me so far.
It isn't a sick person who stabs someone 47 times to kill them. It is a sick person who counts the stab wounds on the corpse.

I keep my hooks in small bottles, either pill or pork bottles, every now & then just spray some WD-40 into the bottles. No rust!!!!!After you fish in the rain. make sure you open everything up & let it dry out good, this will prevent rusting also.

Sharpen the hook (always sharpen yer hooks!) and then paint the exposed metal with a Sharpie marker. I do this on every point on every hook on every bait over the winter (Michigan). All the hook points are both sticky sharp and rust proof by spring. Let's see, I have about 400 muskie baits and another 250 walleye/bass crankbaits, plus (and this is over the top for sure) I do every walleye jig, too.

Spray down with KVD Lind and Lure conditioner. That is the "Lure" part of the product. also keeps metal parts moving freely etc. Derek Chance BTS and KVD Line and Lure Stahlman Powersports-Rolla, MO HI-Tech Collision-Rolla, MO

I've used those lil cardboard pieces that come with some of the Plano boxes they seem to work alright! A couple of the big things is like one guy said earlier dont put back wet hooks or baits back in the box until they dry out. The biggest one that will rust everything is when its raining or especially just sprinkling while your fishing is if your looking for a hook in the box and while your looking sprinkles are landing in the box. So, what I do is, I try to pull out hooks that I think Ill be using before getting out and if I do need some while fishing and its raining I'll open the box under the driver console. Hope that helps some!

it's a hassle but i open all box's for a couple days after they get wet. i always keep the boats compartment lids open in the garage too. this keeps moisture out as well.

I just use the silica packets from anything I find that has them. Beef Jerky packets, pill bottles, etc. My hooks never rust.

Use a penny in each corner of each tackle box . it's the "sacrifical annode" approach. I laughed then tried it, works pretty good.

I just spray fish formula in the hook box every so often and I don't have any problems plus I guess it would mask your scent when you tie a new hook on..

Buy Zerust storage boxes. Bought 2 last year to try. Had no rust on any hooks on any lures in this box. Very happy with the results. Bought 8 more and the Zerust Big mouth spinnerbait box for this season. I look forward to rust free lures from here on.Proud new owner of my first official bassboat."92 Nitro 180FS powered by 89 Johnson 150GT. "If at first you don't succeed...skip it and go fishin'".
