Need more speed!! STRATOS 200xl Reply  Edit

I have a 2007 Stratos 200xl with a 2007 225 e-tec HO. The boat has a 6 inch jack plate and the prop is a 26p power tech 4 blade. With the prop at 3.125 inches below pad, I get 71mph @5800rpm with me and light load. With 2 people in the boat it is hard to get to 70mph. I raised the motor and speed dropped off to 68mph @5800. I can turn more rpm's but red line is 5800. I have read on-line that this boat is capable of upper 70's. What changes do I need to make to get upper 70's out of this boat? Which prop do you recommend??

Todd is the man on that boat, he rigs them with 8" of setback and a tempest prop.

My set up on the 200 pxl 225 etc I had, would put me and a partner at 76.7 gps and 79 with 1 person. I don't have it now but still have all the set-up notes, it was fast.

8" jack plate, 2.75" below pad, 28" Raker "original", or 26" raker "original", or 27" Tempest+.

The I used the 26" raker in the dead heat of summer with a heavy load, just worked better for hole shot and load carrying. The 28 raker was my favorite, it was fast on top with acceptable hole shot. The tempest is another good prop that worked on my boat. Little better hole but not as good on top but not by much.

Looks like I am going to be shopping for a new prop!!
The 27p Tempest or the 28p Raker.
Will it make a big differance if I stick with the 6" jack plate?

Thanks,

I doubt the 2" will make any noticeable difference on top end unless you are carrying a very heavy load. The 8" plate may help it out in that scenario.

The extra 2" may help with hole shot, could prevent some blow out by not letting the prop cavitate as much on initial throttle hit.

If you're not happy with the results using your 6" plate, you could just add a 2" spacer rather than buying a new 8" plate. It'll save you a lot of $$.
