I would go with the 6inch plate the ten to much and on that older boat and also i would drop down in pitch to a 23p or 22 p laser 2 or tempest plus that 24p is a lot for that 2.0 to turn

Couldn't use the 6" plate because the hole pattern didn't match and the 10" plate actually turned out to be an 8" Pro-Hijacker HP plate so we bolted that one on and set it 3.5" below the pad. Ran it Sat. afternoon just before dark. Didn't see any change in top speed but it feels better handling in the turns and more stable over rougher water. Only had a chance to make one or two runs so I'll be playing with setup later. The 24 trophy plus I run gets out of the hole a little slow but it will get close to 5800 rpm at wot. I tried the Laser II's and they were great out of the hole but had no top end. 53 to 54 mph was it. I attributed it to the smaller blade diameter. I never got around to trying a 23 Tempest Plus which I was really wanting.

I think you will like the tempest plus it has more bow lift than the laser2 which most time will bring more speed on top end

I had a 1985 373v ranger, and a 10 in rite hite jackplate, didnt have a 6 in to try out,top speed 62.3 mph with a johnson gt 150-24 p raker about 2 1/2 below the pad stock gearcase The additional length did make the boat run better over a transom mount.

Well I got a good run out of it the other day. GPSed 60.6 mph full tanks & livewells and just me and my dog. RPM's at 5800 to 5900. The motor height is 3.0 in. below the pad. This is the first time I broke 60mph in this boat so I'm pleased... for now. I would still like to try a 23 Tempest. Anyone need a good 25 Trophy, I got one on the boards.

If no psi guage then keep a good eye on it,can raise 1/4 at a time until boat either is squirrelly or psi is to low somewhere between tht 3 in and 2 1/2 that stock gearcase will be at its limit,I ran mine to 2 1/2 with no problems, but depends upon the boat somewhat as well. Thats another 100 to 150 rpm, higher than that the ranger will get funky, even though the gearcase may pick up,mine as well picked up to 2 1/4 but backed it off 1/4 for better handling. From what I recall your 364 is but a single console and my 373v was a double about the only difference.Theres still 2 mph easy left in it to get. Difference in transom versus 10 in jackplate speeds was 4-5 mph,not because of the setback, but due to motor height mostly.

Speaking of squirrely, I did feel the back of the boat moving around a bit at 60. Not out of control or anything but loose like it was trying to slide sideways. It did try to chime just a little but not bad. My previous boat was a Tr-21 which was pretty solid with no "wiggle" at 72-74. It had some chimewalk, but I learned to drive it with time. The pad on the Tr-21 was flat where the pad on the Ranger is V shaped which might account for the "wiggle" at higher speeds. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges but this was just an observation. This is my second Ranger, my first was an '86 373v like yours, no jackplate, with a 150 Mariner 2 liter, basically the same engine. It was a little rough, needed upholstery, carpet, gel was faded but I liked it. I didn't have that boat long enough to really set it up like I wanted because I ran into a deal on the 364v which was cosmetically almost perfect. The owner bought it new and fished it very rarely. I will say this, I have noticed the ride on the 373v was better, don't know why but I noticed it on the first ride I took in the 364v. Could there be a hull design difference? I don't know but the 373 seemed to handle rough water a little better. No regrets though, I love my Ranger!

sometimes with the Ranger hulls if the motor is too deep with the plate on it, it seems that it is kind of in a spot where its wanting to get up on pad and run but doesnt, it wants to kick a little sideways in the ass end, from the torque. I experienced this this spring with my new Ranger and Jackplate. I was told to raise the motor up more and it actually took care of it. You might try it, trial and error is the best way to find something out.

The only difference in the 370 series and 360 series is the double step hull on a 360 series. The xtra step or cutout at the back/bottom of the pad acts as a jackplate and aids performance. The 370 series may ride a SMALL amount better, but i think 99% of that is probably more the setups of each rig. I personally like the double step hull a little better.A prop that will give you good overall lift will give your best ride on the 360 series. The single step of the 370 series extends farther back and actually lifts the back of the boat up a little more than a 360,therefore holds the back/sides up a lttle farther from waves.

As soon as I get off for the holidays I'm gonna spend a day "tuning" my setup. I just wish I had a 3 blade to try. It could make a world of difference. But that may have to wait for another day.
