Mike...I'm not an expert, but 6.25 seems awfully low. I'd like to see how that boat would run with it set at 3.50 below pad and pushed by a 24p Fury. That sounds like a 70 mph combo!!!!!!

It will want to stay pretty deep fish and skis are nose heavy, but you are already throwing a rooster tail at 6" under. With any load at all you wont want to go much higher

It doesnt throw a rooster tail and I have alot of water pressure. What would be a good height to try for the engine?

Thanks for the help. I am going to try it with the 26 laser and see what that will do. I can turn a 23 over my max rpm so I guess it needs more prop, but I keep hearing about prop slip. How can I tell if it is slipping?

Ok , I tried my 26 laser tonight with mixed results. IT has a slower holeshot, of course and a slower top speed? It ran 61mph and it was chine walking terrible, and finally blew out the prop. I raised the engine up 1/2 in to 5 3/4 below the pad and it settled the handeling out, didnt blow out again and I was able to get to 62.1mph at 6100 rpm . Anyone have any ides

Keep moving the motor up until the rpms go up, but the speed falls off and try it with a good bow lifting prop like a Tempest or TXP...The motor is too low for that hull and that LazerII is a not much of a prop... Tempest will be much faster and handle much better...

I would try a #25p tempest plus or a trophy plus #25p i think the 26p is to much prop for a 200hp motor iam running a 200hp tempest plus has good bow lift but haveing promble truning it but ithink ihave foul plug are something just coming off double oil but before rebuild could turn the old style lser2 up to 6000 rpmsand iam on a bass boat but ithink you will be better with the trophy plus its a four blade better hole shot and around for a fish&ski boat hope this help

If I remember right the 266 is a 16'4" boat rated for a 140hp. So keep in mind this boat is severely overpowered. That is a 20 yr old boat with a lot of wood in the transom. Unless you are the original owner and know how its been taken care of I would caution you. MAKE SURE that transom is in good shape. If not you have an accident just waiting to happen.
