The officer is the dumber one. I doubt the kid ever saw him and if he did he did not have time to react. That's very unfortunate and could have been avoided very easily.
officer was at fault, but kid did fail to yield right of way to oncoming traffic. yea cop speed was excessive and he was to fault, but at night it hard to judge speed/ distance and the kids should have waited.
This officer was terminated from the PD on friday. I dont know if you guy's saw the video from the dash cam it was from another patrol car. the PO that is being charged absolutely blows by his fellow officer. This is on US route 1 probably one of the busiest roads in this state it has a traffic light every couple of hundred feet. Now there is a little more to this story. The kids had been drinking quite a bit that night and also they had a blinking red light that the driver was supposed to make a complete stop at and in the video he just drove right through it. I am in no way defending this PO. He has to carry fault here as the speed limit there is 35-40 mph but the other driver also had a hand in what transpired by is actions before the crash.
