Just fill out the title as far as being the next buyer in the space provided on the title, take it to your local DMV and they will take care of the rest. The only issue you may have is if in WI you need to have a trailer or motor title as we are not required to have those in KY. If you do then just make a bill of sale up about them and your state will be able to create new title for them in your name.

What Aaron said. You might also talk to the DMV in Wisconsin, explain what you plan to do and see what they will need to get everything registered in your name. That way, you will be all set when you get ready to finalize the transaction.

I bought my boat in MN and transferred it to WI title and reg. If you go to the WI DNR website there is a boat registration form you can print to fill out. It has pretty good instructions. I think you can just mail this in with the fees but i took mine to a DNR office, and paid like $3.00 extra so i could get my sticker right away. That way i knew i did everything right and it was all taken care of.I also brought the registration/titles i had gotten from the seller in MN incase they were needed. Hope this helps.TRAVIS DEGOLIER

>>>The only issue you may have is if in WI you need to have a trailer or motor title as we are not required to have those in KY. You DO NOT NEED to register your trailer in WI and you don't need a motor title. The trailer can always be unregistered and plate-less. But DO get the title transferred from that Kentucky seller to you. That way you'll have a transferable WI trailer title when it comes time to sell. My last two boats were WI boats getting registered in Illinois and BOTH were a little bit of a pain in the butt because WI small boat owners do not register their trailers.

You should ask your local clerks office or DMV about a notary. I know I did not to move my boat from IN to KY. I'm sure it varies office to office/state to state.

You will need it notoraized and the notary will need to use their seal. From state to state transfer they are really particular about dotting the I's and crossing the T's. Some state also require a Bill of Sale. You should check with WI DMV. Most post the exact requirements they need on their websites.
