 Replacement Seat Ideas?? Reply  Edit

Hello,
I recently bought an 85 485DC. While most of the boat in excellent condition, I've noticed the original buckets are a bit blemished. The seem is coming open on the back and they are sun beaten and faded. This boat has the dual console and wide beam. It features the standard hinged 3 bucket combination that flips up for storage underneath.

Most everywhere I look, the replacement seating setups are much too small. If I measure across all 3 buckets, I get 71 inches. Most replacement setups for OEM go about 55-61 inches.

Any ideas of what I can do for replacements? I'm new to the boating culture and could use some direction!

Thank you!

Check with C and O Marine, they may have something that will work. They seem to have alot of the older boat parts available, if not they may be able to send you in the right direction. And congrats on the new to you boat.

See if you have an upholstery shop nearby - they may be able to rebuild/recover your seats.

I owned an 85 vl475 that i restored a couple of years ago. I found these Navistyle high back's on ebay for $65 each. To my suprise they were very comfortable.

You are right on the aftermarket bench width-good luck! I have seen three seat combos that you install yourself, probably your best bet. Of course, there will probbly be gaps between the seats. Besides, you bought it to fish out of, not sit in. I have an 89stratos which was in very good condition, but now the seams are coming apart. I am all about comfort, so here is a link to some that look plush;

Use Google to search for other places that have the three seat combos. Local upholstery places are dicey unless you get a good local source, but, ask how long it will take-you might be riding around on lawn chairs for a few weeks!

Thanks hookjaw.

I called boating seats and they provided a replacement solution. You can buy the plush boat seats in pairs and individual. I just need to buy 3 of the same plush seat (the boat has 3 of the same seat in it now) and they will cover the width of have now. I don't expect any gaps with each seat being 23.5 inches wide.
