 Windshield/Parts Reply  Edit

I'm going to look at a Sprint for sale tomorrow. He owner says it's a 1999 19-footer, so I assume it's a 296. It has a rebuilt Merc XR6 but unfortunately it's only a 150. I think he's asking $5K but it sounds like the wife wants it gone since he already has a Ranger.

The owner sent me a pic (taken at night), and I notice it does not have a windshield. Have any of you Sprint owners been able to get parts for these boats? I have seen the debate regarding Travis editions (and this is one), but is there anything else I need to look for? Thanks in advance for your help!

For the windshield you can check with C and O Marine they have some parts and windshields for Sprints. If they don't have it then you could contact Custom Mold and Tint http://www.getaboatwindshield.com/home to have them make you one for it. As far as it being a Travis Edition just look it over good and check for the usual's that you would when looking at any boat.

Talk to the owner as to why the engine was rebuilt, Make sure the reason for the rebuild has been rectified!! Also check out the transom, floors real well for soft spots. Usual checks for engine. The Travis editions, were mostly cosmetics as most people I've talked to say theirs are structurally strong.

I'm in the midst of talking to Custom mold and tint right now to get a new windshield for my sprint. C and O cant seem to come up with one. So i would just try Custom mold. seems to be your gonna pay about $100 for a new one. Good luck!

Thanks for the responses guys. I ended up buying a 1999 Fisher FX18. I couldn't pass up the deal and there were a lot of uncertainties with this Sprint.
