 X19SS w/150 or H18SS w/150 hp Yammy Reply  Edit

I have decided I may trade my n XP18 back in for either a X19SS with a Yammy 150 (the package deal) or an H18SS with the 150. I am going to use the XP18 for spring fishing before I make up my mind. They are about the same price so money isn't an issue. If I do it which one would you recommend the X19SS or the H18SS and what are the major differences. Thanks for your opinions.

First the ride will be smoother in the X19, better layout in X19 and more stout and thicker hull .125 vs. .100

The X19 is definitely the better boat by far, BUT, If you are only going to stay with a 150 you might as well get the 18. As a X19 owner I started with a 150, now with a 200. The difference is remarkable in how the boat handles. My best friend said he would never ride in my boat with a 200 after riding in it with the 150. once he tried it he admitted that the 200 was a much better match for the hull.

When talking about not as good handling with a 150 versus a 200 are you speaking mainly of speed? I am not interested in top speed so maybe the 150 would be ok for me on the X19

That is all a bigger motor does is add speed the 150 would be fast enough but if your looking for the 70+ then go with 200, if not then the 150 will probably be a good combo and less fuel burned.

Seems like the hole shot would be a whole lot better with a 200, too.

The quality of ideas seems to play a minor role in mass movement leadership. What counts is the arrogant gesture, the complete disregard of the opinion of others, the singlehanded defiance of the world.

The 200 did a lot more than make the boat go faster. Because it gets up on step faster and easier it is much easier to handle when cruising. Of course the Hydro steering has also did its part to improve the ride.
With the 150 the boat was a lto different than it is now and not just faster.

I happened to be near the dealer yesterday so I went in and looked at an X19SSand a H17SS. I liked them both a lot. Since I don't want to go beyond a 150hp, if I do anything I will get the H18SS package with the 150hp Yamaha. I am going to use the new XP18 with the 90, 2 stroke this spring and then decide what to do. I actually like the interior layout of the XP18 as well as the X19 and better than the H models.

I would go with the 19 just for the fact that it has the .125 guage hull. I have a 2001 x-19 with a 150 that has the .100 guage hull. The hull split right down the middle weld (the keel) on me while fishing Lake Conroe (very rough lake because of large powerboats and bulkheads) without hitting anything but the water. I have heard of this happening on other .100 guage hulls but never the .125 guage. Xpress could keep this from ever happening if they would cap the keel instead of using a butt weld which is the weakest type of welds of all welds. Other than that problem I have been happy with the X-19 with just a 150. I have seen top speeds of 64 with the 150. I would love to put a 200 on it to see how it would perform.
