Need a new prop, got questions? Reply  Edit

I have a 2001 Cobra 201, with a 200 Optimax. I have ran a 25' Turbo TXP OT/4 the last two years and have been happy with it. But as with everything it is time for it to be replaced. My questions is has anyone ran the Fury on a Cobra and how does it perform on the 201s? With the current prop and a full load I get 63mph at 5500rpms, good hole shot and mid range. So any help I could get on making the decision to get a new 3 blade Fury, or stay with a four blade would be great.
Thanks for the help, Garrett

Take the TXP you have and send it to Mark Croxton. Have it trophy cut, balanced, and blueprinted. It have the holeshot of what you have now and you should run 69-70mph on GPS.

You also need at least a 10" jackplate. I prefer a 12" how ever some prefer the 10".

You WILL NOT like a Fury.

Best prop I have tried is four blade trophy plus 24 pitch
Better hole shot,speed, and ride.
My mech said not to run 25 pitch trophy on 200 opti (WOT RPM to low??)
I could not turn over 5400
24p+=5800 rpm 10 inch jackplate w/trim tabs / 4 batteries
1999 201D 200 optimax

Just out of curiosity can you tell me what the down side of the Fury is. I am planning on buying a new prop, so you are suggesting to just get a 25' trophy then? I have a 10" manual jackplate on the boat. Will just keep the Turbo as a spare prop.

You will be pleased running a 25" Trophy Plus. However, running it the way it is going to want to be run it is going to eventually sling a blade. If you have a TXP cut to trophy specs, it will run the same without the blade cracking problems. I run 25 Trophy's but have a personal prop man to repair them when they crack. Otherwise, I would run a TXP.

So you have had trouble with the trophy cracking blades? Guess I have never heard of that. Never had any trouble with the TXP cracking or breaking? Is there any big difference on performance between the turbo and trophy?

The trophy is faster in all aspects. However, it will not lift the boat like the TXP. The trophy will make the boat ride much flatter, but will be faster. The TXP is a better rough water propeller due to the fact that it can lift the boat higher overall.
