I Need Help on Pro Craft Reply  Edit

I have a 97 Pro Craft with a 200 EFI on it with a 5.5" Jack Plate, 25 pitch Laser II, and the motor is 4" below the pad. Its runs pretty good, but I feel like it should be running a lot better. At WOT, I run right at 5600 RPM and my speedometer reads 62-63 mph. I really feel like the bow should be higher out of the water, but that is just my opinion. I haven't had a chance to get the GPS speed on it as of yet. I just bought this boat about a month ago. What would you recommend for me to do? Thanks in advance for all your help!

Out of box lazer is a dog prop, it historically has a hard time carrying much of a load. There are a *few* really good prop guys that can work it into a decent wheel, or replace with a tempest.

You'll be able to run the tempest higher, with much better lift, which will equate into speed.

97 pro dp 18.5 175 merc. 10" plate, 3 1/2", 5750 rpms 67-68 cold water, 64-65 warm. 25" Tempest. Full fuel, no water in tanks, full tourn. equ. on gps. Todd can most likely get you over 70.

I really appreciate both of you guys help on this! You think I should stay with the same pitch prop but in a Tempest then? If I left everything on my setup the same as it currently is but put a Tempest on it, what top end speed should I expect out of this boat and motor?

I have a 96 Procraft 210. My old motor was also a 200 EFI. With a 24p Tempest I could get to the low-mid 60's but hole shot stunk. That boat needs a lot of bowlift to run well. I had the prop at 3.5" below pad.
Ultimately, I upgraded to a used 99 225 EFI. That made a huge difference.

There are really only two types of fishing lures:
1) Those that I can't catch fish with,
2) Those I haven't tried yet.
