I'm wanting to upgrade my front depth finder form a X-125 to a HDS-7. The 125 is a 5" display and I'm wondering if anyone has upgraded to a larger one and had it fit in the hole. The trim plate shows to have enough space around it, but I just want to know if anyone has done it. Also, how do you remove the unit that is in there now? The carbon fiber trim piece is flush mount with no screws. I imagine its a snap in type, but I want to make sure before I start prying on it.

You have to take the 2 panels out that are on either side of it. Then reach your hand behind the unit and should be a wing nut on each side. When you take the second one off the bracket will come off be sure to grab it too. But the hole in the fiberglass and the Carbon looking stuff both have to be cut. I put a 26HD up front on mine and ended up not useing the Carbon piece. But yes it can be done.

Thanks Steve. That also answered the question I was fixing to ask. Can you go bigger without the trim in.
