92 286 Pro tournament Jack plate reccomendations Reply  Edit

All right guys here's what I got. I have a very nice 92, 286 Pro Tournament with a Mariner 150 and I need to put a jack plate on it. I have access to a Bob's 8 inch manual plate and was wondering if this would be good one to use. I have asked before and was told to use a 6 inch plate. One of my friends had the 8 inch plate and I could get it very reasonable so what do you guys think. Is 8" too much or will it work ok.

I want to put a 10" on mine but currently have a 6" If your cables are long enough I say put it on.... if it doesn't do what you want you can always change it out. Just my .02

Some come here to sit and think, I come here to scratch my balls, and read the bull$hit on the walls.

don't really know, i don't spin it much past 5k till i get enough parts squirreled away to put it back together, but by myself fully loaded it'll gps in the low 60's.
the difference before and after the plate is amazing, from the take off, even down to having more room on the back deck

If you're prepared to change the steering cables,etc.... go for it. Usually with a 6" plate there's enough to install......

Not sure about the cable length but I ended up getting a used 6" from a guy I know. I am sure the cables are long enought for that. Hopefully I can get it installed soon and get out on the lake and try it out. I also got a water pressure gage to install along with new upgraded electronics and a propak 3 bank battery charger. So I have some work to do. Anyone know a good place to order some new fishing seats from? I checked bass pro shops today but they didnt have the ones I wanted. Been looking on the net and will find something and get them ordered too.

Thanks for the link Mike. They had what I wanted so I placed an order with them. The free shipping for orders was a big plus too.
