For the most bang for the buck.....put a foil on the cav plate!!! I have a Bryan's foil on my boat because it looks good and functions well (jumps right on plane and allows me to run the boat on plane at a lower speed). I've heard alot of good things about the 300 SE Sport from BPS. For that heavy nitro, it just might be the ticket!!!!

I im'd bryan does anyone know his email? the 300se looks a little goddy. I have been reading up on the foils's and people are saying that they are loosing 3mph. but I dont see how this is posable when it shouldnt be in the water at top speed. Also one guy said that it made his whole boat lays flat at top speed, I still only want a few feet of the back in at top end. do these eliminate back wash and roostertail?any other ideas? or is the foil the correct fix for this? 1995 Nitro 190DC Mercury 2.5L 175HP EFI

The foil will only help with the hole shot and with being able to run the boat on plane at a slower speed. Should have no effect on top end as the foil is out of the water when you run on plane. If you want some help with back wash, consider a hole shot plate which bolts to the bottom of the jackplate. As a benny it also might give you a little help out of the hole!! For what it's worth...you might want to try plugging up some of those vent holes to keep you from "blowing out" the prop on your hole shot.

Im running almost the same boat ,just replaced a rude 150 to the ho and the foil makes a good difference when getting on plane in these boats, before the foil had to run about 26 to 28 mph to stay on plane now I can run 16 mph and stay up, its like your already on plane when pull out with mine, but I have the xr111,SR by stingray, and I did lose a mile or two on top but I dont run 75 to often,I have heard to stay away from the ones called doel fin model#E225FHLSIF SERIAL#G04956186 01,225,HO,1;86 gears 93,nitro 190

94/ Nitro 190 DC- 93/Johnson 175 Fastrike 23" Tempest Plus @ 3.25" below/ 6" plate Transom wedge for more + trim 65 gps. @ 5800 rpms.- 3sec. holeshot @ 3200rpms. There's no way I'd hang a 10" plate on the back of mine in fear of leaving my transom at the dock. I realize you just purchased the boat, but man that's alota plate. I'm not a setup guru but that is probably the culprit. I got 1.86 gears just like you and I tried a 24" Trophy and all it did was turn alot of r's. Maybe someone else will jump in here but if it was me, I'd try to sell the " big 10" and go with a 6". Your transom will thank you for it. You need a lift prop.23" Tempest Plus, Raker w/ pvs. Don't know if you'll be able to turn any 3 blade 24" with you're partner, tourny load, gas, etc. Good Luck

I was planning on getting a new JP. the one that is on it I have to adjust on the trailer, was thinking about getting a 6" hyd. I asked todd if he thought it was to big and he said it would be fine. I have a feeling the JP is causing alot off this and if all I need to do is buy a foil and its fixed than cool. but am I really gaining anything having the 10" plate? or should I just go to the 6" plate and get rid of this whole problem? 1995 Nitro 190DC Mercury 2.5L 175HP EFI
