I owned an Astro 18FDX since new in 1991 til this past Sept when I finally traded it in. I loved that boat and it treated me great. Over the years I had wished it were the 20 footer for more room but always liked it. go over it with a fine tooth comb inside and out. Drill the seller for info on how he used it, sotred it, treated after a full day of fishing during rainstorms etc. etc. Inspect the transom area for stress cracks bowed transom etc. (not just Astro's, but all boats). Does it have a JP? Be fussy!!

Merc 200EFI in photo being replaced by 225 Pro Max soon!

I'd look over the rub railing to see if there is any separation. I'd also check the floor board in the front deck compartments. Check the trailer too...look at the rollers to see if they are creased or bent. Heavy boats can do that making them wear out and leaving you with yet another issue to deal with. Mine is a 93, but I love the big deck and tons of storage space. I had a 200hp, but thru a rod through the block...now has a 150 and runs about 43mph. Not all that fast, but plenty fast for my kids and my dad. They are big boats, but like riding in a Cadillac on the water when waves come your way.

okay, okay... last cast, after this one.
