Yep, your champ with a 150 wouldn't get to that point. This might seem harsh, it's not.
It's going to be somewhat like learning to drive, you will be experiencing new forces up to now you haven't seen.
What you have in effect is a two foot square of fiberglass with a ton of boat balanced on, with a propeller trying to twist the whole thing sideways. What you will need to learn is to drive to prevent the imbalance before it starts, and then how to correct while underway.
Imagine riding a skateboard with a 40 mph crosswind.
Best advice is to beg a buddy with a chine walking beast *triton, allison, etc* and have them spend a half hour with you driving your boat to learn how to balance it and what it really feels like. It's much smaller motion than you expect, small moves make big differences.
