LMS 520C full of water... Reply  Edit

I just pulled my bow mounted 520C that stopped working. Damn thing is FULL of water!!! I can shake it, and actually hear the water sloshing around like a half empty bottle of Mtn Dew.

This will be the 3rd unit Ive had to replace, and now the $#@%^& thing is out of warranty.

Can anyone tell me if the newer units are any more waterproof than the 520's?

To top it off, I turn on the unit on the console, and get "GPS Module not responding". I removed the unit and tried it on my buddy's boat, and it the head unit's fine. Looks like I need a new GPS module also.

I've been a Lowrance customer for more than 30 years. I have a 30 yr old Lowrance flasher that's more reliable than any of the units I have in my boat.
Just ticks me off that I've YET to have a single piece of equipment from Lowrance on my boat last more than 2 years.
At least I haven't had to replace the damn transducers...YET.

Sorry, just needed to vent...

Gotta ask you this, is this the 3rd 520 that you have had to replace?

Have you talked to CS and how long is it out of warranty?

Call and bitch, if LInda Coit was still there I would almkost guarentee she would swap it out free of charge. If you get the right person and bitch about all your problems they will probably take care of you. You should ask for a HDS5 upgrade and they will probably do that too.

Good luck.

Guess again.. Im going thru the same dilemma.. No upgrade... no nothing.. they want $212.50 for a new head unit for the 520C.. This is also my 3rd 520 to return, the first one out out of warranty.. BTW You will wait at least a month to get your new unit back..

I have felt the exact same way as you, its frustrating to the extreme. I got angry to the point where i had to go to the other brand and im damn glad i did.
