Would you consider buying one of these for your boat??? Reply  Edit

I made this for my boat and its been on there for about a year now. When I posted pictures of it in the Champion forum a week ago I got some pretty good feedback.

They are easy to remove, just pop out your seat pedistal and thats it. Obviously I would need to configure them differently for each make and model but Im just looking for feedback at this point..

This is made out of wood(1x4's).. I used 1 coat of primer, 3 coats of paint, and a year later it still looks brand new. There are 4 small feet on the bottom that rest on the rear deck. No drilling required!! I use this when trolling for Northern/Muskie or Walleye fishing.

As pictured, $150 shipped to anywhere in the lower 48. +$25 for each additional rod holder.

Eh?

I could see 150 bucks if it was made out of aluminum and tig welded but not for 2+4's

Attwood makes a flush mount as well as a gunnel mount model of that rod holder that has a low profile, hinged soft rubber snap on cover, there is no use for the frame at all.

It looks pretty good and I think the idea is a good one. The only issue I can see is the rod holders are so far back, you'd not be able to get to them very easily unless you were sitting in the back chair. I think the price is too high for something made of wood. I plan to get some rod holders for my BayCat for each side, but I'll likely mount them to the gunnel. I plan to do some trolling in the Gulf this summer. I've got four rod holders on the back of the leaning post, but want some farther out on the sides too.

Most of us here are bass fishermen. But.....if you are into trolling or pike, catfishing.....I could see an advantage to that set up. Nice.

This is made by Attwood and comes with a flush mount which is shown and a gunnel mount whish is what is shown mounted to the wood.

And no, I didn't install them, they were on the boat when I bought it and I have never used them.

I think he's aiming his product at those that don't want to drill any holes in their boat. I never have an issue with drilling holes in my boat but some won't do it.
